Calvin Montgomery

Calvin Montgomery, 67, of Mansfield, left this physical body on Monday, November 9, 2015, to receive his glorified body in heaven. He was a strong man who fought the good fight even down to his last breath. Calvin was born on April 9, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama and was the son of the late John and Louise Montgomery. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received honorable mention along with The Good Conduct Medal and The National Defense Service Medal. He also earned a degree as an auto-mechanic. Calvin worked for General Motors for over 17 years at which he held various jobs. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving partner, Joann (Jo Mae as he called her) of Mansfield; three daughters, Tashicka of Mansfield, Tracy (Kevin) Mcghee of Birmingham, Alabama, and Vendela De Moors of Peachtree, Georgia; on e son, Jacquinn Horn of Mansfield; two step-sons, Valentine (Dubie) Carter and Tracey Carter both of Mansfield; one sister, Deloris Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama; three sisters-in-law, Valerie Montgomery of Birmingham, Alabama, Ann Montgomery of Mansfield, and Betty Oglesby of Mansfield; nine grandchildren including one special granddaughter, Marnay Hoy, who helped her grandpa with everything (his little nurse); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Calvin was preceded in death by his four brothers, Alfred, James, Robert, and Edward Montgomery; and two sisters, Johnnie Adams and Gloria Jackson.Calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
