Charles S. Salyer

Charles S. Salyer, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 08, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Charles was born on September 16, 1924, in Garrett, KY, to Benjamin F. and Anna (Cass) Salyer. He had many talents, including his interest as a mechanic. He also enjoyed buying cars as well as working on them. His other hobby was building homes. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Eva I. (Kindle) Salyer; three children, Madaline Smith and Charles W. Salyer both of Mansfield, and Charlotte (Kermit) Cabell of WV; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Salyer of Ashland; and one sister, Shirley Costo of Mansfield. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Calling hours will also be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Mansfield Cemetery.
