Curtis Ray, 84, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, July 3, 2016.Curtis was born on October 28, 1931, in Sword Creek, VA, to Roby and Molly (Hess) Ray. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Mansfield Asphalt. Curtis attended Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God, and loved to read his Bible and go to church. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He also liked to play his banjo, listen to bluegrass music, and fish.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice (Sigmon) Ray. They were married on September 12, 1953. Also surviving are five children, Michael (Brenda) Ray, Greg (Lora) Ray, Eddie(Joann) Ray, Donna J. (Danny) Green, and James (Denise) Ray; granddaughter, Aleshia (Les) Horner, with whom he adopted; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Dallas Ray and Terry Ray.Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Aleshia Ray; three sisters, Eveline, Bonnie, and Betty; and two brothers, Herman and Don.Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Mansfield Stewart Road Church of God, 1425 N. Stewart Rd, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016, at the church.
