Another gem was plucked from this rock, to take its place on a heavenly necklace. Diane E. (Schmidt) Tilton, 75, of Ontario, peacefully left this earth on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.Diane was born on March 20, 1943, in Mansfield, to Arthur J. and Ruth E. (Waffler) Schmidt. She married the love of her life, Lawrence Tilton on April 8, 1962, and he preceded her in death on February 29, 2012. She was a wife, homemaker, LPN, caregiver, animal lover and life-long Christian. She attended Westwood Alliance Church, and was a member of the Red Hats and Tops. For over seven years, she and Lodean, her sister and best friend, refurbished dolls for Toys for Tots. She is survived by three sons, Richard Tilton, and Paul (Charlene) Tilton, both of Ontario, and David (Jacquie) Tilton, Lucas; one daughter, Rhea (Roger) Back, Rolla, MO; nine grandchildren, Scott, Justin, Kim, Jeanette, Daniel, Christina, Alex, Aaron and Amber; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Terry Miller) Schmidt of Ashland; one sister, Lodean (Gene) Baker of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Lowell Schmidt.Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Open Bible Church, 1150 Rayfield Dr, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Dink Porter officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas.
