Ernest Russell "Rusty" Townsend

Ernest Russell "Rusty" Townsend, 54, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2018.Rusty was born October 27, 1963 the son of Dorthy Keener Willey and step-father, Glen Taylor. He lost the battle of his illness, but he is not suffering anymore.Rusty is survived by his son, Yance Townsend of Mansfield; his mother and step-father; one brother, Richard Townsend of Mansfield; three sisters, Diann (Wayne) Rush of Pierston, IN; Leslie Goble of Plymouth, and Sheila Willey (Joe) Henderson of Merango; one great aunt, Enid James of Parkersburg, WV; several nieces and nephews; and his "love of my life" 2 fur babies, Rosie and Maggie.Rusty was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Keener; and one sister-in-law, Mary Townsend.The family would like to thank his friends, Donna Artrip and family, Karen Bias, the Fisher Family, the Thompson's, his nurses - Stepheny, Leicy, and Kelly, MedCentral Staff, the Tiro Fire and Rescue Dept, all who helped during Rusty's illness and Rev. Garland Harvey and Jimmy Weiss, who were always there whenever needed.Rusty donated his eyes to the Lion's Eye Bank and his body to O.S.U. for science study.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Shelby, 18 South Gamble Street, Shelby, OH 44875.
