Jacob R. Fliger, 73, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014, following a lengthy illness. Jacob was born on November 13, 1940, in Loudonville, to George M. Sr. and Mildred A. (Ernst) Fliger. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 17, 1958, and proudly served his country. He loved fishing and enjoyed eating at Coney Island Restaurant in Mansfield. He is survived by one daughter, Julia (Fernando) Anguiano of San Bernadino, CA; three sons, Jacob R Fliger Jr., Dr. Jerry E. (Debbie) Fliger of Jacksonville, FL, and Christopher P. Fliger of FL; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille I. (LaVerne Sr.) Norris and Edith Henry of Mansfield, and his twin sister, Judith K. (James W. Sr) Smith, also of Mansfield; and his former daughter-in-law, Tina Fliger of Creston. Jacob was preceded in death by his daughter, Maggie Fliger, son, Michael Fliger, and eight siblings. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Ohio Western Reserve, Rittman. Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, is handling the arrangements.
