Jay Hoover Spillman

Jay Hoover Spillman, 30, of Mansfield, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Jay was born on October 18, 1983, in Mansfield, to Donnie L. and Denise M. (Howard) Spillman. He held a BA in English Literature, and enjoyed writing in his spare time. Jay loved his children very much, and was close to his family. He was also a big fan of sports. He is survived by his parents; his fiancé, Jennifer Cottrell, and their three children, Ethan Jay Spillman, Noah Jacob Spillman, and Emily Raelene Spillman, all of Mansfield; five siblings, Christina Marie Vanderpool and Donnie Lee Spillman II of Mansfield, Arthur Tenore of Plymouth, Nick Tenore of Willard, and Sean McKenzie of FL; maternal grandmother, Ruth Howard of Plymouth; paternal grandfather, Donnie Spillman of Shelby; two maternal aunts, Nancy Howard of Plymouth andTeresa (AJ) Ramsey of Mansfield; two maternal uncles, Scott (Sheryl) Howard of Mansfield and Bill (Joan) Howard of WA; one paternal aunt, Regina (Anthony) Shepherd of Mansfield; two paternal uncles, Rick (Cynde) Spillman of AK, and John (Sue) Spillman of FL; maternal aunt; katy (Nick)Ratliff of Attaica, numerous nephews and nieces; and various cousins. Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Garnell Spillman; maternal grandfather, Billy Jo Howard; and paternal aunt, Georgia Spillman. Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh.
