Jean Ann Askey

Jean Ann (Welker) Askey,65, of Mansfield, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, November 17, 2014, following a short battle with brain cancer. Jean was born on May 3, 1949, in Mansfield, to Harley D. Welker, and Martha L. (Keckler) Welker Frey. She was a member of Hillside First Church of God, and she was involved with her church activities and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Jean enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafting, making wreaths, and entertaining. She also had a love for her kitty friends, and her canine buddy, Sydney. Jean is survived by her husband, Bryan Askey; her mother and step-father, Grover E. and Martha Frey; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jim and June Askey; three daughters, Sherry R. Lesko of Cleveland, Kristie J. Perkins of Mansfield, and Mistie A. Wray of Mt. Vernon; four step-children, Christopher K. Askey, Mindy L. Askey, and Amber L. Hopkins all of Tallahasee, FL, and Tyler J. Askey of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Alex, Kyle, Kayla, Evette, Rocky, and Chadrick; six step-grandchildren, Destiny, Alicia, Oryan, Cayden, Vincent, and Isabella ; six great-grandchildren; three step-sisters, Cheryl, Deborah, Valedia; and one step-brother, Allen. Jean was preceded in death by her father; infant son, Chadrick D. Hines; and two brothers, Larry D. Welker and Richard H. Welker. Calling hours will be 2:00 -4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014, with Pastor Glen Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
