Kelver Delaney

Kelver Delaney, 78, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, following an extended illness.Kelver was born on March 1, 1936, in Clintwood, VA, to Fenden and Lema (Newberry) Delaney. He was a member of Little Washington Congregational Church, Sons of Herman, and the Moose Lodge. He wasemployed for 41 years at Crane Plumbing, and was also employed for 33 years in maintenance at Greenfield Estates. Kelver had a work ethic, and he instilled it in his family. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw, and friend, and was always there for them. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and romping in the woods.He is survived by his wife of 57 years, M. Sue (Yates) Delaney; three children, Rayetta (Kenneth) Malone of Ashland, Louise (Brad) Remy, Geneva Powers; two honorary children, Rita (Keith) Gregory, and Donna (Lester) Dixon all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Curtis and Kaley Remy, Dakota Powers, Dean (Taci) Malone, Daryl (Jessica) Malone, Ashley Finney of Crestline, and Nic Klupp of Mansfield; seven great-grandchildren, Kylie, Allie, Raven, Lexi, Paige, Liberty, and Vincent; eight siblings, Charlie (Nina) Delaney, Gail (Curtis) Deel, Ronnie (Carolyn) Delaney, Johney Delaney, and Debbie (Bill) Powers, all of Clintwood, VA, Phyllis (Jack) Anderson of Roanoke, VA, Mac (Lou) Delaney of Parris, TN, and Alta (Roger) Edwards Abingdon, VA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Pauline Jones of Richmond, Va; brother-in-law James Foster of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.Kelver was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Wealtha Tipton; grandson, Brandon Remy; two brothers-in-law, Gaither and Bobby Yates; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Belcher and Betty Foster.Calling hours will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Root officiating.
