Orville K. Shindeldecker, 82, of Crestline, passed away at Galion Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2015, following a brief illness. Orville was born on December 1, 1932, in Lucas, to Kenneth and Grace (Young) Shindeldecker. He ran the ARCO station in Crestline, being a mechanic was his true passion. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on the Floyd B. Parks and then transferred to the Sea Beas. Orville enjoyed woodworking, and could make anything out of wood, especially jewelry boxes. He is survived by three children, Kathy Shindeldecker of Galion, Mike (Julia) Shindeldecker of Crestline, Barb Lyons of Lexington; two grandchildren, Brandi Spayde, and Suni Beach; three great-grandchildren and two siblings, Cliff (Carol) Shindeldecker of Lucas and Linda (Gerald) Shumaker of Lexington. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Schill) Shindeldecker; three brothers, Glenn Shindeldecker, Russell Shindeldecker, and Jerry Shindeldecker; and two sisters, Iona Music and Lolly Broadhead. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline, with Deacon William Horning officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Crestline/Galion Joint Veterans Detail. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
