Paul D. Shade, 75, of Mansfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, following a short illness. Paul was born on May 1, 1940 in Mansfield. He was fortunate to have had two mothers and was the son of Russell and Margaret (Zartman) Shade and I. Mary Varner. He worked at Westinghouse for 18 years and also worked for Richland County Transit. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed taking mission trips, playing cards, and was known for dressing up as Santa and being the original Frosty at Kingsgate Mall. Paul is survived by three children, Steve (Tamara) Shade of Jeromesville, David Scott Shade and Michelle (Brian) Moore both of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Gemilla, Jeremiah, Mackenzie, Adrianna (Cody), Brandon, and Jessica (Mike); seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Christian, Preston, Owen, Dacota, Logan, and Landon; three sisters, Eva Lawson of Spokane, WA, Evelyn Connel and Joanie Burgess both of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Shade; great-grandson, Christopher James Moore; great-granddaughter, Kailynn Nicole Smith; and four siblings, Harvey Heickel, Dick Heickel, Eileen Heickel, and Janice Shambaugh. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1592 Grace Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Stull officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd is handling the arrangements.
