James "Romie" Kiser, 87, of Mansfield, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2019. He passed peacefully at home after a brief illness. "Romie" was born on October 16, 1931, in Smoky Valley, Kentucky to Willie and Goldie (Bocook) Kiser. He was a loving, giving, and caring father and grandfather who would do anything for his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren telling stories from his younger days as a boy growing up in Kentucky as one of nine children, as a soldier in the Korean war, and as a mill worker at AK Steel, where he retired in 1991, after 41 years of faithful and loyal service. He is survived by his two children, a son, James Brent (Karen) Kiser, and a daughter, Dowanna "Dodi" (Floyd) Mullins. He is also survived by 1 sister, Judy Marie Mabry, and 1 brother, Odis "Bottle" Kiser, 5 grandchildren, Kelly (Curt) Brogan, Stephanie (Arnold) Blevins, James Tyler (Nicole) Kiser, Timothy Luke Mullins, and Ticcoa "Torri" (Dustin) Pigman, 12 great-grandchildren, Trinity, Zoe, Roma, Olivia, Damien, Isabella, Kirra, Shiloh, James, Nathan, Liam, and Adaea, and many nieces and nephews. "Romie" was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings, Elsie Brinegar, Sylvia "Sib" Reynolds, Willie "June" Kiser, Otis "Hooks" Kiser, Caroline Sue Kiser, and Diane Kaye Kiser. A small, private memorial service will be held at a later date.
