Richard L. Ross

Richard L. Ross, 96, of Mansfield, went to be with his heavenly Father at 6:25 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 while in the care of Liberty Nursing Home in Mansfield, OH. Richard was born on June 11, 1923, in Mansfield to Howard and Verna (Clark) Ross and graduated from Mansfield Sr. High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, and family and friends were privileged to hear many stories over the years of his service to our country. He was extremely proud of his grandson Richard for following his footsteps by proudly serving the U.S. Army, and Evan, who for the last five years visited his grandfather daily, sitting and talking about Mansfield Motor Speedway and upcoming events, and helping out with daily needs. He also greatly appreciated Krista for being a loving child and making his day bright for 35 years. He loved his precious dog that he had been taking care of for grandson Richard for the last few years while he was stationed in Hawaii. JoJo, who he consistently called TuTu, followed him everywhere, and they would often go on rides to see changes in Mansfield and surrounding areas, or just go to favorite places and get food and sit and watch cars and people.He is survived by his children, Linda (Jim) Perry, Peggy (Gene) Mosier, Lee (Jimmy) Brown, and Krista Raines and her children, Lucas Wheeler and Zoe Raines; numerous grandchildren including Richard (Tatum Li), Deidrea (Timmy), Evan, Tiffany, and Courtney; and many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christine (Tracewell) Ross; grandson, Michael Williams, and granddaughter, Lorie Edwards.Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 am on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.
