Dallas Keesee Obituary

Dallas Keesee 84 of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Monday January 14, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Dallas was born March 6, 1934 to Jay & Inez ( Thompson ) Keesee.Dallas grew up on the Family Farm in Vinton County Ohio, was an avid basketball player in school and had 8 siblings. His Brothers Charlie, Jake & Jerry, Sisters Dorthea, Billie, Bertha Lee, Jane & Effie Ann and 1 special cousin George. Dallas loved to share stories of Southern Ohio. He was very proud of his Hillbilly / Southern roots. He married Susie ( Sager ) Keesee and had 3 gorgeous & amazing Daughters which he was very proud of and I'm not just saying that because I am one of them.Dallas worked for Commercial Motor Freight for many years and decided to become an owner operator of his own "BIG RIG" hauling parts for GM for many years covering hundreds of thousands of miles. After retirement, Dallas along with his wife also owned Big D's Bar & Grill in Butler, Ohio. After retiring, Dallas enjoyed coming up with self proclaimed "hillbilly" ways of fixing things, giving Red Green a run for his money. He also enjoyed watching westerns, especially "Gunsmoke" and listening to real life drama on his police scanner. (This hobby also helped keep his children and grandchildren in line because we all knew he was listening and knew he would know if we got into any trouble.) He was also a gifted "squirrel whisperer", fattening up Squeaky the squirrel and his friends on hand fed peanut butter sandwiches. Above all else, Dallas loved his family and friends. At 6' 5" he towered over most, but was soft and gentle to all of those who knew him best. Dallas, or Papaw as he was known to his grandchildren, was always there to provide a shoulder to lean on, even when he had to use a cane. Because of this, he was deeply loved and adored by his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, protective spirit and having a great head of hair which always had a line on the right and the hair was combed towards the left, which he always cut with a Flowbee. He is survived by his wife, Susie and children Kim (Gregg) Shoewalter Lynn (Buddy) Trease and Robyne Hampton; grandchildren His eight " Baby Girls "Kaysi Keesee aka Booboo, Jennifer Zartman, Lyndsi ( Tim Hughes ) Hampton, Jaymi Hampton, Jonni Hampton, Sheri Davis, Brittanni Shoewalter & Bethanni Shoewalter and His Grandsons, Taylor (Kelley) Groscost, who he always called "Tater", Trandon Groscost who was known as "Jimmy", His Great Grandchildren, Tracen, Truman, Tristen, Tate, Dakota, Savanna, Dylan and the Families newest most gorgeous little blessing Tahlia Sage. As well as many Grandpuppies & Grandkitties.Three very special ladies whom he absolutely adored. Amber, Viola aka Sweat Pea & Darlene aka Dar. Your friendship is one of a kind and we love you to pieces.Dallas was proceeded in death by his Parents, very special Mother in law Nola, several Siblings, his Son Roger & his Grandbaby Haley Dallason and many friends. The Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.
