Emel J Cox

Emel J. Cox, 79, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, following a brief illness.Emel was born on October 17, 1937, in Elliot Co, KY, to Mark and Viola (Baer) Cox. He retired from Taylor Metal Products. Emel loved his family dearly, and enjoyed spending time with them. He had a very sharp mind, and taught himself to fix about anything and play about any musical instrument. He was also a gun enthusiast. He married his sweetheart, Peggy I. (Gomez) Cox on March 24, 1958, and she survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Ralph) Henski and Cheryl (Mike) Rachel; four grandchildren, Summer, Zachary, Amber, and Joely; seven great-grandchildren, Elijah, Lillian, Paige, Raeleigh, Makayla, Mia, and Malorie; and two sisters, Georgia Cox and Betty (Darrel) Johnson.Along with his parents, Emel was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Joe Cox; and eight siblings, Stanley Cox, Nelson Cox, Earl Cox, Allen Cox, Loval Barker, Glandaween Barth, Lauvonna Lewis, and Margie Garris.A special thank you to Emel's nephew and his wife, Ronnie and Kathy Cox, for being there for the family. Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Herman Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
