George D. "Chief" Cushing, 37, of Mansfield, passed away on March 5, 2018 following a brief illness.George was born April 20, 1980 in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School where he played baseball, football, and soccer. After high school, he proceeded as a welder until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1999, where he served 14 years, including tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was a member of the Amvet Post 26. George's biggest love was his children! He loved to cook and his specialty was BBQ ribs. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. He is survived by his son, Sebastian Cushing; daughter, Addison Cushing; mother, Ginger Cushing; brother, Dustin (Makayla) Cushing; two nephews, Remington and Colt Cushing; like a brother, Ryan Cushing; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Rosemary Cushing; uncles, Robert, Paul, and Norm Cushing.Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH.
