Lester D. Gillum

Lester D. Gillum, 83, of Mansfield, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.Lester was born on October 3, 1935 in Soldier, KY, to Eva (Lewis) and Tony Gillum. Lester gave his heart to Jesus at the age of 53. The next 30 years were the happiest in his life. He enjoyed working in the church wherever needed. On December 26, 1959, he married his sweetheart, Doris (Brinley) Gillum and she survives.Along with his wife, Doris, he is survived by two sons, David Gillum and Tony (April) Gillum of Mansfield; a daughter, Laura (Jim) Fry of Ashland: two granddaughters, Jamie Fry and Stephanie Gillum both of Ashland; two grandsons, Anthony Gillum of Mansfield and Justin Gillum of Greenwich; two great-granddaughters, Jaylynn and Josie Knuth of Ashland; and one sister, Lily (Jerry) Garn of Mansfield.In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by six sisters, Opal Goff, Elizabeth, Jenny, Hazel, Marilyn, and Meny Gillum; and five brothers, Bill, Everett, Jimmy, Manuel and his twin brother, Chester.Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at First Wesleyan Church, 1908 Park Ave. West, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at the church, with Pastor Keith Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
