Lloyd L Spencer

Mr. Lloyd Spencer, of Mansfield, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 13th, 2019. He was 87 years old. Lloyd was born on February 4th, 1932 in Millstone, Kentucky to Joel and Nora (Trent) Spencer. One of twelve children, Lloyd set out to join the U.S. Naval Forces, to which he served as both fireman and electrician over a five-year period. During this time he was stationed both in Honolulu, Hawaii and Tokyo, Japan, selflessly fighting for our country in the Korean War. After the military, Lloyd worked and later retired after 40 years from Ideal Electric in Mansfield Ohio, where he met his late wife, Marcilyn. He unconditionally loved his family, and was extremely close with all of his siblings, nephews, and nieces. He was a fishing enthusiast, avid roller coaster rider until the age of 72, loved Moon Pies, and never was seen without a smile on his face. Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Salser of Bellville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nichole (Ken) Dyer of Bucyrus, Ohio, Carmen (Travis) Bowers of Medina, Ohio, Spencer Spillman of Mansfield, Ohio, and Shawna Poindexter of Sarasota, Florida; four great-grandchildren; and three siblings, JB (Barb) Spencer of Mansfield, Ohio, Carlene (Buddy Wayne) Carty of Shelby, Ohio, and Ann (Kenny) Edenfield of Warren, Ohio. Lloyd is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marcilyn, who passed away in April 2018; daughter Jodean Poindexter, who passed away in September 2018, and eight siblings; Buelah Spencer, Creed Spencer, Marie Barnett, Maerine Short, Edna Love, Ernest Spencer, Lucille Hess, and Clay Spencer. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 20th, from 4:00pm-5:45pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East in Mansfield, Ohio, service will follow.
