Shirley Ann Meckes

Psalm 23: 1-2 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.Shirley Ann (Lightfoot) Meckes, 82, of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Shirley was born on December 12, 1935, in Mansfield, to William and Edith (Wood) Lightfoot. Shirley's mom wanted her to be a Rockette, because she was such a good dancer, but she married the love of her life, Jerry Meckes, on July 13, 1958, and they danced their way through life for 52 years until his death in 2010. They enjoyed traveling together and taking cruises. She enjoyed her family and had many photo albums of them and of her travels. She also loved to crochet. The family cherishes the memories made over the years when they would all gather at Jerry and Shirley's on the weekends to swim in the pool and have cookouts. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Rick (Tammy) Reed of Bend, OR, and Tony (Sherry) Meckes and Kelly (Michele) Meckes both of Mansfield; grandchildren, Chris Reed, Vic Meckes, Shaan (Josh) Hess, Kelsey Meckes, Joel Meckes, and April Meckes; and six great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Patty (Sal) Chirico and Tommy Lightfoot.Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry; and two sisters, Betty Colangelo and Judy Rogers. Calling hours will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.
