Alva Eugene Burgett

Alva E. Burgett, 82, of Ashland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 16, 2021.

Alva was born on November 28, 1938, in Danville, Ohio, to Alva H. and Claribell (Smetzer) Burgett. He married his sweetheart, Sandra (Carter) Burgett on June 5, 1960, and she survives. Alva and Sandra were members of Maranatha Baptist Church. He loved his family, and really enjoyed spending time with them, especially his great-grandchildren. Alva was the heart of his family, and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fishing, and making and eating ice cream.

Along with his wife, Sandra, he is survived by his children, Teresa Walsh, Harrison (Darla) Burgett, Mike (Tricia) Burgett, and Pamela Burgett; grandchildren, Tasha (Mike) Schrader, Brittany Shire, Brodie (Crystal) Shire, Nicole (Mike) Bentley, Harrison (Sara) Burgett, Doug (Danielle) Vroegh Rebecca Burgett, Quin (Kassandra) VanProyen, Jacob Burgett, Jerod (Jessica) Burgett, Jordan (Victoria) Switzer, John (Jessica) Smith, Jensen Switzer, and Jontelle Switzer; great-grandchildren, Austen, Aiden, Asher, Aylan, Avarie, Lane, Myla, Kyra, Joey, Chris, Hunter, Jesse, Zoey, AJ, Araya, Josiah, Wyatt, Alaina, Clayton, Aurora, Fiona, Skyler, Naomi, Colton, Joshua, Jeremiah, Leah, and Elijah; and one brother, Harold Burgett.

Alva was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Howard, Irva, Emma, Glenn, and Paul.

A celebration of Alva’s life will be at a later date.
