Barbara Ann (Eden) Bess

Barbara Ann Bess, 77, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Ohio Health.

Barbara was born September 26, 1947, in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of James E. Eden and Edna Opal (Sparkman) Thompson. She volunteered at the Crystal Care Centers and enjoyed singing for them. Barbara was a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she volunteered, taught Sunday School, and sang. She liked going to garage sales, fishing, and her cat.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Robert Alexander (Jenny) Bennett of Australia and James Austin (Jennifer) Bennett of Galion; one grandchild, Jimi (Jamie) Bennett; an expected granddaughter soon; two brothers, Randy (Colleen) Thompson of Marion, OH and Wayne (Angelyn) Thompson of TN; stepsister, Dee (Larry) Chamberlin of North Jackson, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, James Eden and Edna (Joe) Thompson; husband, Willliam Bess; baby son, Jason Lee Long; and second husband, Art Miller.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Victory Baptist Church, 939 West Cook Road, Mansfield, with Pastor Jason Price officiating. Burial will be in Shelby-Oakland Cemetery, Shelby, Ohio at a later date.
