Barbara J. Mortimer, age 85 of Ontario, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Altercare of Bucyrus. She was born on July 10, 1939, in Mansfield to the late Leroy and Mabel (Simmons) Watkins.
Barbara worked for GM for 28 years, where she served on the election committee and the United Way committee. She was a member of UAW Local 549, and she also worked part time as a courtesy driver for Graham Chevy.
She is survived by her son Michael (Sheri Hoffman) Mortimer; her grandchildren Tiffany Parker and Kristi Snow; her step-grandchildren Eric Swain and Alan Buchanan; her great-grandchildren Brayden and Brianna Bickers; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is survived by her good friends Marge Fada, Brenda Brooks, Martie Russel, and Betty Clevenger, as well as her gambling buddy Phil Plant.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Mabel Watkins; her son Steven Watkins; her sisters Beverly Mortimer, Eileen “Penny” Troupe, and Charlene “Charlie” Watkins; her brothers Vaughn “Jeep,” Corky, John, Leroy “Joe,” Jr., and Richard Watkins; her grandsons Jason and Tyler Mortimer; her niece Annette Alexander; and her half-sister Edith.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 5:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #859, 217 E. Bucyrus St., Crestline.
