Bessie Marilyn (Holmes) Correll

Bessie Marilyn Correll, 90, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021.

Bessie was born on February 22, 1930, in Wabash, Indiana, to William “Jack” and Josephine (Chambers) Holmes.  Bessie was a kind hearted sweet soul who would do anything for you.   She enjoyed playing cards with family and would not let even the younger great grandchildren win unless they earned it!  She also enjoyed gardening and cooking...It was your own fault if you went away hungry from her home and she welcomed anyone there.  Bessie did not know a stranger. 
She spent the last year at Crystal Care Nursing home and quickly became one of the favorite residents.  She loved interacting with the nurses, aids and activities…especially BINGO.  She has quite the stash of bingo prizes and loved her nails being painted lavender...no other color would do!

Bessie absolutely loved her kids, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren; which was evident in the way her eyes would light up whenever we would visit.   We all are so very blessed to have her with us as long as we did.  We had her for almost 91 years and will cherish all the wonderful memories we have with her.

She is survived by her children, Vicki (Ted) Fox, Debra (Steve) Campbell, and Skip (Peggy) Correll, Jr.; grandchildren, Travis (Kelly) Fox, Carter (Chuck) Townsend, Stephanie (Jimmy) Woods, Mark (Angie) Correll, Jeff Correll, Tami Smith, Angie (Steve) Boyd, Patti (Jim) Carrill, and Bonita (Larry) Loyet; great-grandchildren, Courtney Townsend, Cody Townsend, Cameron Townsend, Lakota Woods, Sadie Woods, Ryan Fox, Kendall and Landon, Christopher Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Jackson Boyd, Julia Smith, Eilee Correll, Kaylin Correll, Zach Carrill, Raymond Carrill, Ben Carrill, and Stewart and Joe Lee; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius Correll Sr.; grandchildren, Kurt Fox and Jamie Lee; brothers, Dode and Edgar; sisters, Laurene and Mary.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH.
