Betty J. “Bones” Surber, age 90 of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 20, 1935, in Morehead, Kentucky, to the late Walter and Nellie (Smedley) Crose, and on July 3, 1954, she married the love of her life, Douglas Surber.
Betty was a hard worker who held various management positions throughout her life, but most notably, she managed Dairyland for over 40 years. She was part of a bowling league during her younger years, and she also loved playing cards.
She is survived by her son Greg (Renee) Surber; her siblings Donald Crose, Roy (Debbie) Crose, Coy Crose, and Carole Sergent; her grandchildren Camren Surber and Taya (Shannon) Surber; her great-grandchildren Kendall, Phoenix, Kendra, and Jaydan; special niece Tami Hunt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Surber; her son Tony Surber; her great-granddaughter Arabella; her special nephew Michael Hunt; her parents Walter and Nellie Crose; and her siblings Larry Crose and Roberta Horsley.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Springmill Cemetery.
