Carolyn L. Adkins, age 71 of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 15, 1954, in Mansfield to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Isaac) Smith, and on November 27, 1971, she married the love of her life, Jerry Adkins.
Carolyn worked in the cafeteria at Mansfield City Schools for many years and loved it. She spent time in her sewing room every day, and she also enjoyed crafting and making jewelry. She was good to everyone, and she did what she could for anybody in need. She loved hosting company for holiday gatherings and various get-togethers with her family, and she was known among her nieces and nephews at “Mommy Cat.” She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Adkins; her daughter Heather (Doug) Tackett; her sisters Cathy Blamer and Della Grumbling; her grandchildren Destiny (Jeff Smith) Tackett, Serenity (Dakota) Johnson, and Sean (Alex Alan) Tackett; her great-grandchildren Elliot, Evan, Jackson, and Colton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Elizabeth Smith and her siblings Lawrence Smith, Linda Wolf, and Wilma Lindsay.
A private burial will take place at Mansfield Cemetery.
