Chester Lee Lawhorn

Chester Lee Lawhorn, 79, of Smokey Valley Olive Hill, KY, went home to be with his Lord early Tuesday Morning, November 22, 2016, at his home in Mansfield.He was born April 23, 1937, in Olive Hill, KY, to the late Jack and Margaret Lawhorn. The first time he saw Hannah Ree walking down the road, he told his mom, "I am going to marry that girl someday." They married January 4, 1958. The love he had for his bride was like the love our Lord has for His bride, the church. They were always affectionate with each other. The morning he went to be with the Lord, he asked his bride, "How's my girl?" He was a member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church, loved Jesus and he would want us all to be ready to come see him. Chester was a man of prayer and his Bible was always close by. He prayed many prayers over his family and friends. His love for his family was evident to all. He not only showed his love towards them, but he told them that he loved them as well. He enjoyed taking time to teach the younger generations about his love for whittling and sharing with them his many hunting and fishing stories. His trips to Kentucky with his bride were always a time he cherished. Walking hand in hand together through the hills, enjoying God's beautiful creation. He is survived by bride, Hannah Ree of Mansfield; five children, Patty (Jim) Rose, Bart (Christa) Lawhorn, Nina (Steve) Reeder, Renee (Tim) McMillen, and Jack (Alison) Lawhorn; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Clayton. Chester was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one great-granddaughter. Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, with Rev. Jerry Copley officiating. Burial will be at Springmill Cemetery.
