Chester Lee Stollings, 86, of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by family.
Chester was born on October 11, 1938, in Curry, West Virginia, to Dorn and Nona (Arthur) Stollings. He belonged to the Laborers Union since 1957. Chester was known for being a kind and gentle soul, yet, there was an ornery side to him that would occasionally surface, surprising those who only saw his quiet demeanor. His love for Nascar and westerns were what most knew him for, yet it was the time spent with his youngest daughter watching episodes of “Two and a Half Men” that was a simple reminder of the bond they shared.
Family and friends were important to him and he enjoyed the camaraderie found among his friends at the Union Hall. Playing poker, betting on horse races or enjoying his canine companion, Penny, were some of favorite pasttimes.
He is survived by His children, Darla Caudell of Mansfield, Patricia (Dwight) Harris of Galion, Chester Stollings Jr. of Mansfield, and Steve Stollings of Columbus; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brothers, Raymond Lee Stollings and Billy Lee Stollings.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley (Javens) Stollings; son, Lester Stollings; grandchildren, Shawna Davina Harris and Bobby Stollings; four sisters; and one brother.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Hank Webb officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery.
