Colonel Charles Robert Daugherty Jr. (76) of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at home on July 23rd, 2024, surrounded by family.
Born September 13th, 1947, to Rose and Charles (Bob) Daugherty Sr. in Mansfield, Ohio, he grew up with his younger sister Sharon by his side.
Charlie was a natural born leader with an enormous heart. He was loyal and kind. He served 42 years at the 179th Airlift Wing where he was awarded many honors and titles, and retired as Colonel Daugherty, Maintenance Group Commander. He truly loved the base and the men and women of the 179th. He missed them deeply after retiring.
Charlie loved going on dates with his wife, being outside, watching Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football, and spending time with his fur babies Mocha, Mea, Maggie, Montana, and Eliot Ness (named after his favorite beer).
He is survived by his loving wife Michelle; his five children: Wendy (Ron), Dean (Tressa), Sarah, Bethany (Heath), and Charlotte; along with his sister, Sharon; half-sister, Linda; and eleven grandchildren: Chad (Katey), Brandon (April), Emma (26), Luke (24), Dahlia (10), Athena (7), Kaden (5), Penelope (5), Boone (4), Josephine (2), Eleanore (2 weeks); and great grandchild, Penelope (4).
He is preceded in death by his parents Rose and Charles Daugherty Sr.
Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
