Craig Maglott Obituary

Craig Alan Maglott, age 55, of Lucas, passed away on Saturday December 5, 2020 at Hospice of Central Ohio at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center due to complications after a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Craig was born April 30, 1965 at Mansfield General Hospital to Roger and Janet (Heimberger) Maglott.   Craig was married to his loving wife, Heide, for an incredibly happy 19 years.  He was the oldest of four boys.  Craig lived in Lucas, Ohio his entire life and graduated 1983 from Lucas High School.  He completed his Journeyman Apprenticeship for Tool and Die Maker from Madison Adult Education in 1992.

Craig was employed for 18 years as a Tool and Die Maker in Mansfield, he was self-employed for 12 years building custom wood furniture, Owner/operator of Slice’s Pizza & Drive Thru and worked at Catalyst Life Services as a Maintenance Technician.

Craig enjoyed spending time with his family and taking amazing vacations with his step-daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and special niece, Jillian.  Craig was a skilled craftsman and his passion for woodworking was known by all who knew him.  During the summer months he enjoyed golfing and greatly anticipated the annual Lake Cumberland Houseboat trips.  Craig’s friends were an especially important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time reminiscing which was a regular occurrence.  If you knew Craig, you knew of his love for sweets.  Cake with lots of icing, mint chocolate ice cream and let’s not forget the pumpkin pie and all that whipped cream.

In addition to his parents and wife, Craig is survived by his brothers, Bryan (Kari) Maglott, Aaron Maglott (Kim Fizer) and Heath (Julie) Maglott; step-daughter, Melissa (Edward) Vohnoutka; step-son, Jake (Ashley) Polmateer; grandchildren, Christopher, Cassidy, Austin, Ryan, Emma, and Brooklyn; nephews and niece, Nicholas, Josh, Brandon, Jillian, Graham, and Griffin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Craig was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Burlyn and Lucille Maglott; maternal grandparents, Clayton and Irma Heimberger; and two uncles, Larry Maglott and Phil Heimberger.
