Delbert R. “Pops” Bair, 65, of Mansfield, went peacefully into the night, Sunday, September 27, 2020, after an extended illness with a life changing complication.
Delbert was born on Sunday, February 27, 1955, in Crestline, Ohio. He was born in a house to the parents Nolan V. Bair and Lakey M. Hendricks.
He met the love of his life shortly before joining the Navy. He returned home with an Honorable Discharge and married Doris J. Taylor on January 2, 1976, in Bucyrus, Ohio.
He was the proud father of three amazing kids, who he loved unconditionally.
After life as a Navy man, he worked at the old prison as a guard following in his father’s footsteps.
He loved old cars, dirt track races out at Mansfield Speedway, Fourth of July fireworks, camping, fishing and tinkering and fixing cars and trucks. He loved spending time with his boys, teaching them the many tricks of the trade no matter what they were working on. He also loved old war movies and oldies music and country.
He spent numerous mornings playing cards or chess with his wife while drinking coffee.
He was also a Bengals football fan while his wife liked the Browns and others liked Ohio State and Steelers. So it made for many interesting topics. He even went to live wrestling events and the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. He treasured anything Military.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Doris J. Taylor; his only daughter, Sandy (Gary) Hudson; two sons, Arnold Bair (Diana Robinett) of Bucyrus and Clarence Bair (Heather Ivy) of Mansfield; and one brother, Howard (Kathy) Bair of Shelby.
Also being left behind are his beloved eleven grandchildren, Jeremiaha, Paul, Rebekah, Breanna, Gracie, Carter, CJ, Caden, Roselynn, Barry, and Trey, as well as five and one on the way great-grandchildren, with a special great-grandson, Braxton; his furry companion-not his wife-Daisy; and a special friend and caregiver, Bonnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan V. Bair and Lakey M. Wright; step-father, Gilbert B. Wright; and step-mother, Fannie J. Bair; two brothers, Robert and Russell Bair; a step-brother, Bob Bland; and a four legged friend, Sissy.
