Donald Anthony Saxton, 92, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, while in the care of Crystal Care Center of Mansfield.
Don was born on November 7, 1932, in Crestline, Ohio, to the late Frank James and Lucy Mary Agnes (Ruggi) Saxton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam Era and retired after 22 years of service. Don also worked as an electric motor repairman for Shoemaker Electric and enjoyed racing his pigeons. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Donald is survived by his children: Douglas (Margaret) Knoyer of Munroe Falls, OH, Steven (Amy) Saxton of Fort Wayne, IN, Diane (Ed) Liebal of Warren, OH, Ann (Brian) Burton of Fort Wayne, IN, Jim (Nyla) Saxton of Fort Wayne, IN, Tracy (Drew) Darling of Mansfield, and Tiffany (Mike) Osgar of Mansfield; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Frank (Anna Mae) Saxton, Jr. of Crestline, Shirley (Larry) McClain of Mansfield, Dolores Shafer of Crestline, and Phyllis Hoffman of Crestline; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Carneal) Saxton; one daughter, Beverly Theresa Saxton; one son, David Saxton; and siblings: Joseph Marsano, Dominic Marsano, and Amy Gantzler.
Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Crestline.
