Donald H. “Buddy” Barrows, 85, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at Good Shepherd in Ashland.
Buddy was born on June 27, 1935 in Columbus, to Donald S. and Elizabeth (Kern) Barrows. He proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea. He served as an associate pastor at Diamond Hill Cathedral for 14 years and conducted the prison ministry. He also served in the staff band at the church. Buddy founded Word of Faith Church and served as lead pastor for 23 years. He founded Word of Faith Church Academy, Buddy’s Outreach, and served as Chaplain for the Mansfield Police Department. Buddy loved music, played his guitar and harmonica for the Lord throughout his lifetime in ministry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Dummitt) Barrows; children, Clifford Barrows and Derrick (Heather) Barrows both of Mansfield, and Debbie (Norman) Rush of Carmichaels, PA; nine grandchildren; and sisters, Marilyn (Dennis) Paramore of Mansfield, Cathy (Rich) Alvarado of Clearwater, FL, and Dawn (Larry) Seay of Roanoke, VA.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald S. and Elizabeth Barrows; and sister, Connie Kinkead.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Military honors will be performed by Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
