E. Harold Mattox, 92, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from cancer.Harold was born on January 10, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio to Everett and Rachel (Swearengin) Mattox. He loved to travel with his wife, Agnes. He enjoyed reading spending time with his family and friends. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific on the Destroyer, USS Prichett. He was a construction electrician with Local 688 and a member of the American Legion #16. He is survived by his beloved wife, Agnes (Harris) Mattox; five children, Bonnie (Kenny) Jenkins, Gary (Susan) Taylor, Greg (Kathie) Taylor, Becki Smith, and Robert Mattox; twelve grandchildren, Steven Rogers, Brian Sweet, Matthew (Elizabeth) Taylor, Nichole (Triton) Minnich, Christopher Taylor, Brian Smith, Amanda (Ross) Gibson, Autumn, Harmony, Skylar, Ireland, and Janice Mattox; one great-grandchild, Wesley Gibson; two great-grandchildren on the way, baby Gibson and baby Taylor; and special friends/neighbors, Connie Doutt and Maryanne Cappadonna. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nancy Holeda; and one sister, Margaret Petrie.Calling hours will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Marion Avenue Grace Brethren Church, 531 Marion Ave., Mansfield, Ohio 44903. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
