On Friday, December 4, 2020, God called our beloved Deacon Edmond Haney, Jr. on to glory.
Deacon Haney was born November 25, 1952 in West Point, Mississippi, the son of Edmond Haney, Sr. and Pearlie Mae Kelly. He relocated to Mansfield, where he later met and married Elaine. He joined Jerusalem COGIC, became a Sunday School Teacher and then the Sunday School Superintendent and a Deacon. Deacon Haney was a member and lead singer of White Clouds of Joy Gospel Singers of Mansfield. He loved to watch football, especially the Miami Dolphins. Deacon Haney loved to fish, spend time with his family, and grow things in his garden. He was the most kind, strong, loving, generous, and caring man that we have ever known who will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by three children, Edna Hawkins and Monette (Vern) Hilary both of Mansfield, and Benjamin of OK; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; five siblings, Sherry Kelly, Roger Kelly, Wash (Sandra) Haney, Sr., Martha Mosley, and John Haney; step-father, Jim D. Kelly; step-sisters, Darlene Haney of IN and Doris Jean Haney of Columbus, MI; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special niece, Rockie M. Jones Bigham.
Edmond was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine Haney; sister, Mary Claudia DeLoach; and brother, John Albert Haney.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mansfield Cemetery, 389 Altamont Avenue, Mansfield.
