Edna G. Hampton, age 75 of Galion, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at JAG Healthcare Galion. She was born on April 13, 1950, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late Ernest Patrone and Ann (Deusenberry) Summers.
Edna worked for Thermo-O-Disc for over 20 years, and she enjoyed bingo, coloring, and Yahtzee. She cared greatly from her family from a very young age, having helped to raise her siblings during her childhood and grown up to become the matriarch of her own family. They were always there for her, and she was always there for them. Her son was her world, and she was very close to her sister Ernie, who she lived with for more than 20 years. She was also very well cared for by her granddaughter Ashley during her time at the nursing home.
She is survived by her son Alan “AJ” (Beth) Gray, Jr.; her siblings Ernie (Hazim) Sabre, John (Rochella) Summers, Bobby Summers, and Jeff (Penny) Summers; her grandchildren Kristian Gray, Ashley Gray, and Cayden Carver; her great-grandchildren Malyah Cox and Carter Gray; her special niece Heather; her dear friends Shirley and Jenny; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Patrone and Ann Summers, her stepfather Bob Summers, and her niece Laura Summers.
A graveside service will take place at Mansfield Cemetery on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life at Amvets Post 1979 in Galion, 420 Harding Way East, at 1:00 pm.
The family would like to offer a special thank-you to the staff of JAG Healthcare for the excellent care Edna received during her time with them.
