Erwin Renz, age 87, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Arbors of Mifflin nursing home.
Erwin was born April 16, 1937, in Jamki/Kreis Lutsk, Poland, the son of the late Eduard and Olga (Renz) Renz. Erwin married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Joetta Cornett, on April 12, 1957.
Erwin was a Master Sargent in the Air National Guard till he retired from the military in 1976. Then he worked as a tubing manufacturing engineer in several locations including OH and PA. He won numerous awards for sharpshooting and enjoyed hunting with his sons, brother-in-law Jim and work buddies. He enjoyed being an active member of Mansfield Gospel Assembly.
Erwin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Wilma Joetta (Cornett) Renz; his daughter, Deborah (Rick) Motter of Mansfield; sons, Russ Renz of Lexington, Eric (Kim) Renz of Front Royal, VA, and Randy (Kelley) Renz of Mansfield; grandchildren, Benjamin Motter, Mark (Courtney) Motter, Aaron (Annie) Renz, Amberly Renz, Brandon Renz, and Kristen Renz; great-grandchildren, Thatcher, Boone and Piper Motter, Kendyll, Alex, Jackson, Kaden and Lincoln Renz; brother, Horst (Young Ae) Renz of NY; brother-in-law, James (Nancy) Cornett; sisters-in-law, Rosie Renz of Chicago and Virginia Renz of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Erwin was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Edwin, Arnold, Edmund, and Ewald Renz; and sisters, Herta, Hedwig, Hildegard, Edith, and Erika Renz.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Gospel Assembly Church, 1100 S. Trimble Road, Mansfield.
