Eugene P. Kurtz

Eugene P. Kurtz, 70, of Lucas, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Eugene was born December 16, 1949 in Mansfield to Caleb M. and Mary E. (Osborne) Kurtz.  He graduated from Lucas High School, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  Eugene married his sweetheart, Brenda (Britton) Kurtz on January 1, 1970 and she survives.  He enjoyed farming and collecting AC Tractors.  Eugene loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. 

Along with his wife, Brenda, he is survived by his children, Dennis E. Kurtz of Virginia, Mary Kay (Tim) Putman of Lucas, Caleb D. Kurtz of Lucas, and Laura R. (Vern) Frye of Loraine; grandchildren, Hunter Kurtz and Hannah Kurtz, both of VA, Emma Kurtz and Maddi Kurtz,  both of South Carolina, and special grandchildren, Allison Putman and Grayson Putman, both of Lucas; six siblings, Martha (Wilbur) Brumenshenkel, Jim (Sue) Kurtz, Naomi Harry, Dorothy (Dan) Sorg, Kenneth (Gwen) Kurtz, and George (Debbie) Kurtz; and many nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Heston; four brothers, John Kurtz, Sr., Edward Kurtz, Raymond Kurtz, and David Kurtz; and son, Eugene P. Kurtz, II.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating.  Burial will take place in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas.
