Eugene Doanie Porter Jr.

Eugene Doanie Porter Jr., 67, of Mansfield, went to a far better place on Friday, August 7, 2020.

Eugene was born on February 2, 1953 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Eugene D. Porter, Sr. and Laura Mae (Petry) Porter.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was married to his wife, Melodie Porter, for 47 years. He loved to play guitar, banjo, fiddle, keyboard, and anything he could get his hands on while playing mostly gospel music.

He is survived by his wife, Melodie Ann (Prosser) Porter; son, Eugene (Teresa) Porter III; three granddaughters, Autumn, Abigail, and Bella; siblings, Otis (Sonie) Porter, Martin (Marie) Porter all of Mansfield, Laura “Riethie” (Rick) Pelfrey of Shelby, and Tina (Kenny) Young of Crestline; brother-in-law, Monty Napier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Starla Jane Napier; and a brother, Robert Porter.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Pelfry officiating.
