Evalene “Evie” Janet Ward, 89, of Mansfield, went home to be with her
Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 26, 2021, surrounded by family. She will
be missed by many here on earth, but in Heaven, she is rejoicing with the angels
and enjoying the reunion with her loved ones that have passed on before her.
Evalene was born November 22, 1932 in Mansfield to Christian and Catherine
Weigler. In her younger years, she worked at Thermodisc, Zayre’s and the Merit
Inn, to name a few, and also sold Avon for many years. She loved to crochet
and work outside tending to her flowers which brought her much joy. The
greatest joy of her life began with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
whom she loved so much and spoiled every chance she got.
Evalene is survived by children, Ray (Susan) Powell of Maryland, Tom
Auflick of Mansfield, Janet (Gary) Schlupp of Mansfield, Sherri Ward-Clifton of
Columbus, and Kim (Kelly) Blevins of Ontario; siblings, Wayne (Sally)
Armstrong of Lucas, Judy (Carl) Adams of Mansfield, and Dale (Pat)
Armstrong of Mansfield; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Catherine;
brother, Harvey Weigler; her husband, James “Jim” Ward; son, Terry Auflick;
and grandson, Aaron Clifton.
Private viewing for immediate family only will take place at a later date.
Memorial Service will be held for friends and family at Zions Refuge Baptist
Church 1400 Lucas Rd, Mansfield at a later date and burial will be at Mansfield
Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd. is assisting the family with
