Felix "Gil" Hertzler, 85, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at home, following a brief illness. Gil was born on July 10, 1928, in Imperial, PA, to John S. and Martha V. (Jones) Hertzler. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Embarq in 1993, and retired from Century Link after 15 years. In the 1960's, he was an Auxiliary Police Officer for Mansfield City. He enjoyed Nascar, watching sci-fi movies, yard work, and was a collector of memorabilila. He married Linda Lough Hertzler on November 21, 1953, and she survives him. Also surviving Gil are three sons, Steven (Pam) Hertzler, Mark S. Hertzler, and Scott G. Hertzler, all of Mansfield; and four grandchildren, Miranda (Jason) Miller of Lancaster, Justin (Kristen) Hertzler of Stephens City, VA and their two children, Abigail and Logan Hertzler, Benjamin (Michelle) Hertzler of CA, and their daughter, Alexis Hertzler, and Nicholas Hertzler of Lexington. Gil was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Hertzler and Clark "Denny" Hertzler; and one sister, Dorothy May Jones. Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, with Pastor Rob Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
