Gary L.. Husbands

Gary L. Husbands, 70, of Mansfield, returned home on November 28, 2018 after an extended battle with lung disease. Gary was born October 21, 1948 in Columbus to Robert and Marjean (Stevens) Husbands. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Army and loved his country. When the weather was cold, he took great pleasure in going to Florida with his wife to share the second home they loved in Florida. Gary loved to travel the world with his wife by his side, especially Aruba and the Caribbean. He was an avid sports fan, and rarely missed an Ohio State Football or Cleveland Indians game. He loved an adventure and always embraced the fun in life.He loved his family and was an awesome papaw. Everyone who knew Gary loved his jokester personality and his mischievous ways. Although he could roar like a lion, his heart was as good as gold. He will be greatly missed by so many, but all those he has touched will forever be grateful for the time they had with him.Along with his loving wife of 50 years, Susan Husbands, both of Mansfield, OH and Holiday, FL, Gary is survived by two daughters, Melanie (Tony) Holmes of Hudson, Florida and Beth Ann Sams of Mansfield, Ohio; three granddaughters, Kaylee Green, Jillien Puster, and Isabella Sams; one grandson, Jacob Puster; six step-grandchildren, Tori, Olivia, Gabe, Torrey and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Ethan Green; brother, Roger (Rhonda) of Howard, Ohio; sister, Annette Weikel of Mansfield; John & Joann Cates, Jim and Marcia Cates, Brenda and Bill Sweal; and extended family. All were blessed with his love and sense of adventure.A celebration of Gary's life will be held with family and close friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the VFW, 853 Ashland Road, Mansfield.
