Gino Fransisco Colace, age 88 of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Avita Health Systems in Ontario. He was born on September 1, 1937, in Mansfield, to the late Anthony “Tony” and Yolonda Alaide (Pini) Colace.
Gino was a 1955 Mansfield Senior High School Graduate, worked for General Motors as a journeyman die-maker, and received the UAW Walter Ruth Award. He attended Berean Baptist Church, was a religious child of God, had a compassionate heart, and went on mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Gino was a hospice volunteer, had a sense of humor, and was a perfectionist with a strong work ethic. He could fix anything and held a patent on the Ski-Bike. Gino was known for creating and passing out bookmarks.
He is survived by his former wife, Pat Colace; his children, Anthony “Tony” (Mary) Colace of Mansfield, Gino (Michelle) Colace of Spring Lake, MI, and Teresa Colace of Bellville; his grandchildren, Holly (Ian) Robinson, Chris (Christy) Dawson, Adam (Briana Chambers) Dawson, Nathan (Susan) Colace, Christi Yoha, and Jessie (Chad) Gompf; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Yolonda Colace; his brother, Andrew Colace; and one granddaughter, Candace Harp.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Tony Colace officiating. Burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery.
In honor of Gino’s many volunteer hours with hospice, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1021 Dauch Drive, Ashland, OH 44805.
