Gregory S. Layfield

Gregory S. Layfield, 53, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly late Wednesday, March 21, 2018.Gregory was born on September 26, 1964 in Mansfield, the son of James and Roberta (Yarman) Reid. Gregory was a 1983 graduate of Madison High School. He enjoyed his life's work of tree trimming. He had a passion for working on electronics, especially computers.Along with his parents, he is survived by his son, Devon S. Layfield; one granddaughter, Nichole Rose Layfield; six siblings, Melinda Dyer (Doug Gray) of Nevada, Jamie (Michael) Jaynes of Lucas, Michelle (Terry) Kniceley of Mansfield, Bonni Clark of Shreve, Michelle (Eric) Bower of Wooster, and Russell (Megan) Layfield of Bowling Green; and multiple nieces and nephews.Gregory was preceded in death by his birth father, Clyde A. Layfield, Jr.; brother, Steven A. Layfield; infant brother, Jeffrey Layfield; and his grandparents.Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Main St. United Methodist Church, 230 S. Main St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. Memorial services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor DeWayne Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bellville Cemetery. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, is handling the arrangements.
