Gwen J. (Mowry) Kurtz

Gwen J. (Mowry) Kurtz, 67, of Bellville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Gwen was born June 28, 1954, in Mansfield, to Kenneth E. and Elsie M. (Armstrong) Mowry. She married the love of her life, Ken A. Kurtz on May 30, 1975, and he survives. Gwen was an active member of Mansfield Baptist Temple where she had been employed for many years as the office manager and taught Sunday School and helped in Jr. Church. If there was a need at the church, she was involved. She was also in charge of Temple Christian School’s drama department. Gwen loved her family, her church, and her friends and always had an encouraging word to say and a smile to share. She especially enjoyed taking trips with her best friends, Sandy and Barb.

Along with her husband, Ken, she is survived by her children, Kenneth C. “KC” Kurtz of Bellville, Joseph R. (Samantha) Kurtz of Butler, and Katie M. (Brandon) Coulter of Mansfield; ten grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Mowry, Larry (Dottie) Mowry, and Dale (Cora) Mowry; and many nieces and nephews.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents.

Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 N. Stewart Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Robert J. Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lucas.
