Henry "Dean" Adkins, Sr. Obituary

Henry “Dean” Adkins, Sr., age 76 of Mansfield, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 7, 1950, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Henry and Sarah (Schauffer) Adkins.

Dean served the Lord as a preacher for many years and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose faith remained an important part of his life.

Before his health declined, Dean enjoyed reading, spending time with his family, taking long walks in nature, and sharing his love of music through singing and playing the guitar. He and his wife, Mary, also enjoyed traveling together, taking scenic trips and exploring different parts of the country.

Dean found the greatest joy in life's simple moments. He loved spending quiet days at home with Mary, watching Western movies while their three beloved dogs, Binky, Stinky, and Molly, were curled up beside them.

He is survived by his wife Mary Adkins; his children Henry “Dean” (Erica) Adkins, Jr., Josh Adkins, and Romatt (Billie) Myers; his siblings Sandra “Chubby” (Anthony) Christo, Evelyn Simmons, Linda Bartram, Betty Jo (Eddie) Nicholson, Shannon Renner, and Bernie (Loretta) Adkins; his grandchildren Sherah Adkins, Henry Dean Adkins, III, Ethan Adkins, Emyah Adkins, Elijah Adkins, Eizac Adkins, and Evyn Adkins; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Sarah Adkins; his siblings Darlene Adkins, Arlene Adkins, Judy Adkins, Robert Adkins, Sonny Adkins, Lila (Dave) Kinnison, and Clinton “Scotty” Adkins; and his brothers-in-law Bob Simmons, Allen Bartram, and Beecher Adkins.
