James “Jim” E. Shumer, 79, of Lucas, Ohio passed from this life to the next on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
Jim was born on April 20, 1942, in Michigan to Howard and Florence (Kahle) Shumer. He was married to his wife, Diane, for 41 years. He was a giver and a servant to many. His first love was always Jesus and out of that love he shared love with others. He was a hardworking man who didn’t know how to slow down even in retirement. He enjoyed his grandchildren, jigsaw puzzles and lively discussions with anyone who would partake.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Shumer; children, Robert Shumer, Clarice Shumer, James (Rebekah) Shumer, Odelia (Ed) Thigpen, Geoffrey Shumer, Kalika (Kyle) Morris, Elijah Shumer, Jotham Shumer, Christopher (Amarinda) Shumer, Kadesha Shumer, Stephen Shumer, Jerusha Shumer, Jubilee Shumer, and Nehemiah Shumer; 14 grandchildren; siblings, Dan (Diane) Shumer, Mary Staple, Sue (Utah) Harris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Donald Shumer and Richard Shumer.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lucas.
