Jimmy W. Lacey, age 77 of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born on August 20, 1947, in High Point, North Carolina, to the late Landon T. and Helen E. (Cash) Lacey.
Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and he went on to work a series of jobs before settling in at Busch Gardens as a traffic director until his official retirement from the workforce. He enjoyed spending time with his yorkie buddy, Daisy, prior to her passing, and more recently, he treasured the time he spent with his granddaughter’s new dog, Kimber.
In his younger years, Jimmy was very involved with the Moose Lodge, and he enjoyed trips to the OBX with his family. Later in life, he enjoyed going to breakfast with his VA buddies after his appointments, and he could often be found watching WWE or Law and Order: SVU.
He is survived by his children David L. Hatten, Lori A. (John) Hoyt, Barbara L. Tappan-Kennedy, Lisa M. (JR) Green, and Jamie E. (Alan) Smith; his grandchildren David Jr., Jack, Laura, Dustie, Kayla, Raven, Ericka, Olivia, Harper, Miranda, Destyni, and Taylor; numerous great-grandchildren; his nephew Wade “Buddy” Lacey; and the mother of his children and best friend to this day, Ellen Kay.
He was preceded in death by his parents Landon and Helen Lacey, his siblings Cheryl and Ricky, and his son-in-law John Kennedy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
