Jonathan "Jon" E. W. Pickering

Jonathan “Jon” E.W. Pickering, Sr., 49, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

Jon was born on October 11, 1970, in Ashland, to Harold and Linda K. (Baker) Pickering.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Persian Gulf War.  He belonged to Ohio Health Mansfield Stroke Support Group.  He married the love of his life and his best friend, Darla Noblet Pickering, on January 10, 2019, and she survives.  Jon loved to go to church with Darla and enjoyed Christmas time.  He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved history, especially the civil war, and enjoyed visiting Gettysburg.  He also loved trains.

Along with his wife, Darla, he is survived by his parents; children, Jonathan (Taylor) Pickering, Jr. of Columbus, Jordan (Caitlynn) Pickering of Cincinnati, Jillian Pickering of Ashland, Janelle Pickering of Mansfield; step-children, Rodney (Autumn) Blackwell of Brazil, Sarah (Justin) Hayes of Akron, Michael Blackwell and Laila Blackwell both of Mansfield, Rafael, Pablo, Stamp, and Ina; five grandchildren, Haven, Alexa, Melody, Caiden, and Benson; mother-in-law, Jane Betts of Polk; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sue and George Noblet of Mansfield; siblings, Travis (Angie) Pickering, Patty (Bobby) Clemons, and Sheri Charley, all of Ashland; and brother-in-law, Jason Betts of Polk.

Jon was preceded in death by his infant son, Joshua Pickering.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor John Burges and Pastor Jay Hill officiating.  Burial will be in Ashland Memorial Park.
