Julianna C. “Julia” (Weidle) Westfield, 94, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020.
Julia was born on May 27, 1926, in Mansfield, to John and Johanna (Scheurer) Weidle. Over the years, Julia belonged to the Apostolic Church and Little Washington Congregational Church. She volunteered at Lucas Elemetary School for five years, then went on to volunteer at the high school. She was hired by the school in the office as an administrative assistant to the secretary. She loved spending time with her family, especially at holiday gatherings. She enjoyed gardening and canning, raising pheasants and turkeys, needlepoint, and crocheting. When the family had a boat, She and her husband, David, would be at Lake Erie, enjoying the water. Julia had some favorite shows that she liked to watch, including soap operas, Judge Judy, People’s Court, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers with family.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Green of Jacksonville, FL, Wendy Jo Jackson of Mansfield, David Westfield of Howard, and Ray Westfield of Ashland; grandchildren, Dawn M. (Green) Phenneger, and John P. Green, all of Florida, Shannen M. Green of Missouri, Joshua D. Conley of Plymouth, Ashli N. (Jeremiah) Keller, Kristina R. (Brennan) Marte, Daniel R. Westfield, Devyn R. Westfield, Christopher Westfield, and Mathew Westfield; great-grandchildren, Daryl D. Phennegar, and Derek A. Phenneger both of Florida, and Justin P. Phenneger of Colorado, Koree M. Conley of Willard, Colten J. and Quinn N. Keller, Brice A.and Kayli R. Marte, Delilah R. Rigney, and Zackary Westfield; and great-great-grandchildren, Chad A. Phenneger, Braden A. Phenneger, and Isabel M. Phenneger all of Florida.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by David Westfield, her husband of 62 years; her son, Neal Westfield; and her brothers Jake Weidle and Fred Weidle.
We will also be honoring her husband, David, and his military service. David proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. The R.C. Joint Veterans Burial Detail will perform Military Honors. David and Julia will be laid to rest, together, at Mansfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating.
