It is with broken hearts that we write this obituary for our loving mom, Justina (Isaac) Phipps, 85, of Shiloh, Ohio, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, following an extended illness, while surrounded by her family who loved her very much.
Justina was born February 27, 1936, in Salyersville, Kentucky to Willie and Myrtle (Lemaster) Isaac. She was a homemaker most of her life and taking care of her family was her greatest joy. Family was everything to her and she loved when the house was full of laughter. She would always invite everyone to stay all night and would say, “We’ve got plenty of room.”. She married Ernie Phipps on December 3, 1955 in Salyersville, KY and moved to OH shortly thereafter, where they would share the next 65 years together.
She is survived by her husband, Ernie Phipps; two daughters, Vicky (Paul) Sakala of Lexington, OH and Carolyn (John) Cook of Perrysville, OH; daughter-in-law, Vicky Phipps of Salyersville, KY; two grandsons, Gregg Phipps of Salyersville, KY and Shane Cook of Perrysville, OH; one granddaughter, Dawn Gottron of Georgetown, KY; one great-grandson, Scott Phipps; two great-great-grandsons, Nathan and Gabe Phipps all of Salyersville, KY; two sisters, Maureen Tackett of Salyersville, KY and Bonnie Cline from West Liberty, KY; two brothers, Joe Luther Isaac and Dolphie (Sharon) Isaac both of Salyersville, KY; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a good loving friend who was family to her, Betty Norris.
Justina was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; one son, Dennis Ray Phipps; two brothers-in-law, Troy Tackett and Lloyd Cline; and one sister-in-law, Gracie Isaac, all from Kentucky.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Earl Eiklor, Jr. officiating. Private family burial will be held in Lantz Cemetery immediately following the service.
A lunch will be provided in the funeral home Social Hall in honor of her spending her lifetime cooking and preparing meals for others.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Newhope Christian Academy, 7846 KY Rt. 40W, Oil Springs, KY 41238, where her two great-great-grandsons, Nathan and Gabe, attend school. It brought much joy to her life being a part of their lives and watching them grow.
